Printed here, checked before it prints

Every poster is printed on our Roland large-format printer at our factory in Washington. Before anything goes on the printer, we check your file at the size it’s going to be printed. That’s where most poster problems show up: a logo pulled off a website, or a phone photo stretched to A1. If yours won’t print cleanly, we tell you and suggest a fix. We don’t just print it and hope.

Satin poster paper

We print posters on satin poster paper. It sits between matt and gloss: colours and photos have some depth, but it won’t throw glare back under shop lights or stage lighting the way full gloss does. It’s made for indoor use, so it suits windows, walls, noticeboards and frames.

If the poster is going outside, paper is the wrong choice. It will cockle and fade in the weather. A PVC banner or a rigid sign will last much longer, and we can tell you which suits the spot.

Art prints and photo prints

The same satin stock that makes a good poster makes a good print for the wall. It holds colour and fine detail well, and the soft sheen gives photos some depth without the glare of full gloss. We print art prints for artists and illustrators, photo prints for photographers, and big wedding and family photos for framing, from A4 up to A0 and beyond.

Send the original, full-size file, not one saved from social media or a messaging app, because they shrink images. We check it at the print size and tell you honestly how it will come out. We don’t print on canvas.

What people use them for

  • Shops and cafés: window posters, offers, menus and price boards behind glass.
  • Venues, bands and promoters: gig and event posters, run in batches.
  • Offices and schools: displays, notices, maps and signage for indoor walls.
  • Exhibitions and events: big single prints at A1, A0 or larger.
  • Estate and letting agents: window displays.
  • Architects and builders: plans and drawings printed at full size.

Getting a poster to read from across the room

Pick the size by how far away people will be, not by what looks right on your laptop. An A3 poster works close up on a noticeboard. On the far side of a shop window, a street away, you want A1 or bigger. Keep the headline short and big, and put the date, place or price where it can’t be missed.

If you’re sending a batch for an event, put everything on one order: sizes, quantities and the deadline. We’ll send one proof and one price, and it’s all ready to collect at the same time.

Poster and art print prices

Poster printing: common questions

What paper do you print posters on?

Satin poster paper. It has a slight sheen, so colours and photos look rich without the glare you get from full gloss under shop or venue lighting.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes, £20. Setting up a print run for one small poster wastes more than it’s worth, so the minimum is £20, which is six A4s or four A3s. Mix sizes and designs if you like. A single A0, or a laminated A1, covers it on its own.

Can posters go outside?

Not really. Poster paper is made for indoor use, or behind glass in a window or frame. For anything exposed to the weather, a PVC banner or a rigid sign will last far longer. Ring us and we’ll point you at the right one.

How big can you print?

A4 up to A0 as standard, and bigger than A0 on request. The printer takes paper up to 1.6 metres wide, so large one-off posters and display prints are fine.

Can you laminate posters?

Posters aren’t laminated by default, because most are for indoor use. If you want them laminated, it’s £5.50 for an A4, £10 for an A3, £14 for an A2, £20 for an A1 and £32 for an A0.

How long do posters take?

Currently 3 to 5 working days from artwork approval. If you need them within 24 hours, rush jobs are an extra 25%, as long as the queue allows.

Do you print art prints and photo prints?

Yes. We print them on the same satin poster stock we use for posters, which holds colour and fine detail well and has a soft sheen. We don’t print on canvas.

My photo looks fine on my phone. Will it print well at A1?

Not always. A photo that looks sharp on a phone screen can look soft when it’s blown up to A1 or A0. Send it over and we’ll check it at full size and tell you honestly before anything is printed.
